You have rented a boat without a license and you have discovered a passion for sailing; it is probably time to get your license! Starting 6 CV HP you must possess a boat license. The coastal license allows you to sail at sea up to 6 nautical miles from a shelter, or just over 11 kilometres. (Sailing without a license is punishable by way of a fine of 1500€). This coastal option gives you the right to sail by day and night, without being limited in engine power, and to drive a jet ski or water scooter over 6hp (by day only).
The practical training is organized into 5 themes:
Boater safety: ensuring the individual and collective safety of the crew, recognizing the importance of training in the use of onboard communication equipment.
Essential skills for boaters: deciding whether to go out based on a weather forecast, respecting navigation markers, and identifying obstacles in a navigation area.
The responsibilities of the boater: to be responsible for the crew and the boat, to use distress signals wisely, and to respect the natural environment.
Boat handling: mastering engine start-up, vessel trajectory and speed, propulsion shutdown, reversing, and the use of alignments.
Boat maneuvers: docking and undocking from a quay, picking up a mooring buoy, anchoring, and rescuing a person who has fallen overboard
Antibes Bateaux Services is certified as a boating school and offers an efficient way to quickly obtain your licence.
The coastal license is obtained in 2 stages: the theorytest (similar to a driver's license) and the practical one.
The theory test is based on different themes and rules of navigation at sea.
